Saturday May 17th, 2025 will kick off the 2025 Park Season!
This season we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the dedication of the Gol Stave Church and Dala Horse!
Syttende Mai – Thor Lodge
We are going to have an extra special 17 Mai this year. 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Gol Stave Church. Thor Lodge will partner with the Scandinavian Heritage Association as they begin the commemoration of the Stave Church. We remember that Thor Lodge and many of its members were integral in bringing this masterpiece to Minot.
The Syttende Mai itinerary starts with the parade beginning at the Scandinavian Visitors Center at noon. As we parade through the park, we will stop at the Stave Church for a short program and a brief musical/vocal piece. We will continue the parade back to Thor Lodge where pølse i lompe (a hot dog or sausage wrapped in lomper which is a smaller thicker lefse) will be served. Bløtkake decorated as the Norwegian flag and a 6-foot Kransekake will be served as well. Jerry Schlag will entertain with the accordion.
Members please bring your children, grandchildren and friends. Dress up in your finest Norsk wear – sweaters, bunads, or flag shirts. Bring a Norwegian flag to wave. 17 Mai is on a Saturday this year so we are hoping to have lots of kids in attendance – just as it is in Norway. Hurra for syttende mai!
